9,000 m3 of Ready-mixed Concrete Poured in less than 32 Hours
Over the last weekend of March, Saudi Readymix delivered the largest concrete pour to date, in the Eastern Region, for the new Al Manea Hospital in Dammam. The hospital’s raft foundation was over 9,000 cubic meters of ready-mixed concrete and was completed in a record time of 32 hours in a continuous round-the-clock ready-mix concrete supply from 9 batch plants across the City. Saudi Readymix dispatched more than 124 truck mixers and pumped the concrete using 8 mobile pumps.
According to Hatem Elhaj Jabr, Saudi Readymix’s General Manager, Eastern and Western Regions: “We were requested to finish the pour within 35 hours. Thanks to our hard-working dedicated teams, this massive pour was concluded in 32 hours, with an average delivery rate of one truck mixer dispatching concrete on location every 2 minutes.”
“We have spent hours of careful planning, involving all of our departments, to put together a complete and refined plan involving just-in-time raw materials supply, uninterrupted concrete production, timely site delivery, integrated quality control checks and fast concrete placement.” Added Elhaj Jabr. “Not only that, we also had to take into consideration the weather factor; meteorological reports indicated that the weather might be unstable during the days of the pour.”
The 9,000 cubic meters of concrete used in the raft foundation is equivalent to the concrete requirements for a 30 to 35 villa residential complex. This means that the rate of pour was equal to pouring all the concrete for one villa each hour. The Company started the raft foundation pour at 4:00 am Friday morning and poured the last truck mixer at around 12 noon on Saturday.
Saudi Readymix is the leading ready-mixed concrete supplier in Saudi Arabia with a network of over 40 factories located in various strategic locations throughout the Kingdom and employs around 3,000 employees and runs the largest fleet of mobile equipment in the region. The Company contributes in many ongoing research in concrete in collaboration with various academic institutes and organizations and has recently opened its new state-of-the-art Research and Development Center in Dammam.
